Another historic from my neighbor. I call it Old Yeller because the color reminds me of the dog in the movie by that name. I think it is possibly Alta California (Mohr/Mitchell 1931)
In 2008 a late freeze caused the speckles in the picture above. A friend told me about an iris named for W. R. Dykes that had this characteristic. Later blooms on this same rhizome proved it to be a fluke of nature, not a rare iris.
